Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 42.3 points down at 15732.1 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.

Overall, 25 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 25 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, NTPC,

The BSE Sensex closed 153.13 points down at 52693.57.
Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, Defence, Sugar, Shipping and General sectors, while selling was witnessed in Engineering, Tourism & Hospitality, Agro Processing, Miscellaneous and Media & Entertainment sectors during the day.
