PATNA: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav was on Wednesday taken to AIIMS-Delhi in an air ambulance as his condition failed to improve after undergoing treatment at a private hospital here for the past three days. Doctors said, the RJD chief, who has a failing kidney, is on oxygen support.
He also suffers from multiple ailments, including diabetes, hypertension and cardiac issues.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar took stock of Lalu’s health and wished for his speedy recovery. “Our association is quite old, since young age,” Nitish said, adding that the state government will look after the medical expenditure as it was his (Lalu’s) right.
Lalu’s family members, including his wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, his younger son Tejashwi and daughter-in-law Rajshree also left for Delhi in the evening. “Doctors in Delhi know his medical history and have been treating him for long. So, everyone decided to take him there,” said Tejashwi, thanking millions of Lalu supporters for their support and prayers.
