Apple Self Service Repair: Apple provides rental toolkit for self service repair for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro

Last year, Apple introduced its Self Service Repair programme, which enables customers to do some iPhone model repairs entirely on their own. The concept is currently being expanded to include MacBook laptops. The programme will only apply to M1-powered MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. Additionally, the Cupertino-based tech giant has confined repairs to the trackpad, top casing with battery, and also the display. The iPhone repair programme is presently accessible only in the USA.

In a statement on its website on Monday, the iPhone manufacturer announced the rollout of a self-service repair programme for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with the M1 processor. Beginning today, Apple will offer repair guides, actual Apple components, and tools via Apple Self Service Repair Store.

For each model of the M1 MacBook, the programme will comprise of many repair types, including top case the trackpad, top casing with battery, and also the display. Apple intends to expand its lineup of laptops in this year itself.

Apple set to unveil iPhone 14 this September

​Four models

The iPhone 14 may only be a minor upgrade over the previous models, only the Pro models are expected to receive significant improvements to the CPU and camera. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are four upcoming iPhone models from Apple.

​Punch-hole display

On the standard and Max versions, the previous notch design from the iPhone 13 series will still be there. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models will most likely feature the punch-hole display design that the majority of contemporary Android phones have.

​A15 Bionic technology

The latest Bionic chipsets won’t be utilized in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. They are said to be driven by the same A15 Bionic technology as the iPhone 13 series. The processor is strong and will provide consumers with powerful performance. The engine of the Pro models will likely be equipped with the latest A16 Bionic SoC.

Apple announced at this year’s WWDC that all iPhones released after September 2020 would come with iOS 16 preinstalled.

​Pricing

Although some claim that the pricing of the iPhone 14 will be Rs 10,000 higher than the model due out in 2021, it will likely retail for about the same price as the iPhone 13. In India, the starting price for the iPhone 13 is currently Rs 79,900.

The cost to rent the tool set for fixing MacBook models is $49 per week (approximately Rs 3,900).

In April, Apple announced the Self Service Repair programme and a rental tool kit for people to fix their iPhone SE, iPhone 12 series, and iPhone 13 series. The US presently offers it for users of iPhone, and it will undoubtedly debut in Europe eventually in this year.

With nearly 3,500 Independent Repair Providers, Apple has nearly increased the number of service facilities with access to real Apple tools, parts, and training over the past three years. Approximately 100,000 active technicians are currently supported by a world-wide network of at least 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers. Eight out of ten Apple users in the US are thus within 20 minutes of a licenced service provider.
