JAMMU: Unidentified terrorists hurled a grenade at a police post in J&K’s Ramban district on Tuesday morning. Police, however, claimed that there were no losses suffered in terms of life or property.
ADGP (Jammu zone) Mukesh Singh said the grenade fell short of its target and exploded near the police post. “A letter was found near the blast site, which stated that Jammu & Kashmir Gaznavi Force, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was behind the explosion,” said the ADGP, adding that teams of police’s Special Operations Group and the Army had been mobilised for a cordon-and-search operation in the area.
Ramban SSP Mohita Sharma said security had been stepped up in the area in view of the upcoming Independence Day. On October 12, 2021, J&K Ghaznavi Force had claimed responsibility for the Surankote attack in which five Army personnel were killed.
