Brijesh Vanitlal Shah (48), an operator of M/s. Om Impex was arrested under the special investigation operation carried out against tax evading firms. A local court remanded Shah to 14-days judicial custody.
According to the department, their investigation found that M/s. Om Impex and two other firms viz. M/s Brijeshwari Enterprises and M/s Chetna Metals LLP availed Input Tax Credit (
) of Rs.41.67 cr. from suspected non-genuine tax payers by means of fake bills worth Rs.231.49 cr.

” Given the comprehensive analytical tools and the inter-departmental coordination state GST has been deploying, this number is further going to increase thereby giving a strong signal to the fraudsters and strengthening its drive against such people,” the department said in a statement .
The GST collection between April- July stood at Rs 92,348 crores as compared to Rs 68,207 crores in the corresponding period last year.Of this, Rs 29.168 crore was revenue collection by Maharashtra GST.
