In today’s digital-first world, businesses, large and small, are increasingly relying on digital tools like Adobe Document Cloud to fast-track their shift towards a paperless work culture. In fact, as India’s large micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector seek to optimise their operations as well as build and deliver personalised customer experiences at scale, many are looking to solutions like Adobe Document Cloud to enable them to deliver seamless customer journeys across devices in terms of their interaction with documents.
“Today, when we are moving from one device to another, we have services like Netflix and YouTube that follow us, no matter which device we’re on. I think a lot of consumers today expect that same kind of interaction with documents as well. And a PDF (Portable Document Format) provides a great way to do, including to secure your data, document and consume it, regardless of which device as long as it has a browser,” said Guru Vaidya, Solution Consulting Manager, Adobe, in a virtual webinar moderated Miloni Bhatt, Editor – Digital Broadcast, Economictimes.com.
Last year alone in the world, 350 billion PDFs were opened on various devices and according to Microsoft, 40% of all documents in Outlook are PDF files, noted Vaidya. The digitisation and automation drive, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has forced many businesses to adopt digital means, processes and practices in order to survive and thrive, he added.
How small businesses can leverage Adobe Document Cloud
Adobe Document Cloud simplifies and streamlines work processes, with tools like electronic signatures, document tracking, and version control, including making documents accessible to those with disabilities.
However, the next phase involves extracting intelligence from these documents to gain valuable insights and streamline processes further. “After all, these are vehicles of information, and they help drive your business … So, how can you tap into that intelligence in order to gain more insights, and gain more understanding? And streamline your processes even further? So, basically, what you want to do is you want to make sure that all of your documents are readily available, and actionable,” said Vaidya.
He recommends Acrobat-based solutions and purpose-built PDF APIs that offer powerful automation capabilities, facilitating tasks such as data extraction from documents for training language models, digitising onboarding processes for employees to make it a delightful journey for the employee, and more.
“So for example, we’re working with a customer who’s setting up their own learning language model, and they want to train it with data. And, one of the ways in which they’re training it is by using our APIs in order to extract data from documents…these are posts where, for example, they feed it to their engine in order to help train it,” said Vaidya.
