Shares of Bank of Baroda(up 4.15 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 2.68 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 2.23 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 2.0 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 1.0 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Federal Bank(down 0.5 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.57 per cent up at 39461.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 119.0 points at 17944.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 417.92 points at 60260.13.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.
