Indices: Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.7%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Coforge(up 2.4 per cent), Mindtree(up 2.07 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.92 per cent), Infosys(up 1.16 per cent) and HCL Technologies(up 0.77 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra(down 1.22 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.7 per cent up at 28342.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 84.4 points at 16605.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 284.42 points at 55681.95.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.

Shares of , , , and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of

, , , and CG Power & Ind. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while , Vikas Proppant & Gr, , MIC Electronics and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
