Sikko Industries(down 1.09%) and Aries Agro(down 0.13%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 83.3 points up at 15835.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 326.84 points at 53234.77.
Hindustan Unilever(up 4.07%), Britannia Industries(up 3.24%), IndusInd Bank(up 3.07%), ITC(up 2.66%), ICICI Bank(up 2.3%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.03%), UPL Ltd(up 1.71%), Axis Bank(up 1.62%), SBI Life(up 1.62%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.57%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, JSW Steel(down 4.72%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 3.85%), Tata Consultancy(down 2.41%), Tata Steel(down 2.1%), Cipla(down 1.96%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.46%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.06%), Tata Motors(down 1.03%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.72%) and Coal India(down 0.65%) closed in the red.
