On the surface of it seemed that all the stars were collaborating for a Bollywood potboiler. However, a blunder revealed the grand orchestrations behind what could have been a great marketing strategy. But because of a copy-paste error by the social media team of former cricketer Sourav Ganguly, the campaign nose-dived.
Interestingly, celebrities such as Deepika Padukone, Rashmika Mandanna, Kapil Sharma, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, and several others had shared a similar post in what seems to be a coordinated marketing campaign. However, the error from the BCCI President’s Twitter handle unwittingly revealed the real reason behind the posters shared by all the stars.
Ganguly’s Facebook post shared the poster accompanied by the instructions for the campaign.
The exact text on the post is as follows.
“Post copy: It was fun shooting for it! My new Mega Blockbuster is releasing soon! #trailerout4thsept #Mega Blockbuster.
Please ensure that the Meesho brand name or Meesho #hastag is NOWHERE mentioned in tomorrow’s 1st September post.”

The moment the poster was shared, netizens were quick to spot the error and started trolling the former cricketer. While posts by Deepika, Rashmika, Kapil Sharma, Rohit Sharma piqued the curiosity of their followers.

The same did not happen for Ganguly. Rather, netizens took a screenshot of his post and started trolling him incessantly.
Immediately after Ganguly’s team recognised the error, the post was deleted and later it was rectified. All the stars had shared the post with the hashtag #TrailerOut4thSept hinting at a big reveal by the brand on the day.
