NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday slammed China and Pakistan for seeking participation of third countries in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “Any such actions by any party directly infringe on India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said external affairs ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
“India firmly and consistently opposes projects in the so-called CPEC, which are in Indian territory that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan. Such activities are inherently illegal, illegitimate and unacceptable, and will be treated accordingly by India,” he added.
China and Pakistan had last week “noted” that as a flagship of the BRI, the CPEC had broken new ground in strengthening international and regional connectivity, especially in the context of its extension to Afghanistan.
