NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court panel on Thursday said that Ferozepur SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans failed to discharge his responsibility to maintain law and order or take any steps to deploy additional force to strengthen security on PM’s route on January 5, when the PM’s convoy was stuck on a flyover.
Justice Indu Malhotra Committee, inquiring in to security lapses leading to PM’s convoy getting stuck in Punjab, said there should be a oversight committee for periodic revision of ‘Blue Book’ and indicts Ferozepur SSP for not taking steps to provide security to PM’s convoy.
On January 5 this year, the Prime Minister’s convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur. After that Modi returned without attending any event, including a rally. Later, the Supreme Court had even appointed a five-member committee to probe the alleged security breach.
