Mindy Kaling was touring
New York when she decided to pay a visit to
Priyanka Chopra‘s restaurant Sona to relish Indian delicacies.
She took to Instagram by posting a picture with the menu card. Tagging Priyanka Chopra, she mentioned that she had the most fantastic meal at the restaurant.
She also recommended her favourites, citing the cashew chicken meatballs, the Goan fish curry and the gruyere dosa. Priyanka reposted Kaling’s story mentioning she was glad to see the latter having a great time.
Sona opened in 2021, and many Bollywood celebrities have paid visits to the restaurant. These include Anupam Kher, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal and Vishal Bhardwaj. Previously, the owner herself shared that meeting the team and going to the kitchen makes her happy.
She shared a picture of herself from a private dining room and appreciated the interiors. The restaurant also features art by Indian artists, which is up for sale. Mindy Kaling and Priyanka Chopra are also currently working on a project together.

Pandemic may have been a difficult time for most, professionally. But, that’s not the case with our Desi girl – Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The ‘Fashion’ actress made it to Fortune India’s Top 50 Most Powerful Women list 2020 at the 37th spot, right after actress-producer Anushka Sharma.
From opening New York restaurant Sona to launching haircare brand Anomaly, Mrs Jonas has proved her entrepreneurial skills, especially during the pandemic.
On her 39th birthday, here’s a look at all the pandemic-businesses our beloved PeeCee launched.
The Food-preneur Is Here
Officially launched on March 26, 2021, PeeCee visited her restaurant – SONA – in New York for the first time in end of June after ease of lockdown regulations in the US. Calling it her ‘labour of love’, the actress said that it took her 3 years of planning to finally launch the restaurant.
Chopra Jonas said that restaurant features gorgeous interiors, stunning art by Indian artists (which are for sale) and delicious food and drinks. It also has a namesake private dining room, called Mimi’s.
“SONA is the very embodiment of timeless India and the flavours I grew up with,” she wrote on her social media post.
Summer In A Can
PeeCee’s association with food & beverages was not limited to Sona. The actress collaborated with sparkling water brand BON V!V Spiked Seltzer in creating a new flavour in mid-April 2021 across the US.
After researching, sampling and testing for months, Chopra Jonas unveiled Raspberry Dragonfruit flavour. “It’s light, refreshing and tastes like summer in a can,” she described.
During the pandemic, the actress had been regularly sharing cocktail recipes with her fans on social media.
The Brunette Beauty
On January 31, PeeCee introduced her sustainable haircare brand, Anomaly. From liquid and dry shampoo to deep-conditioning masks and conditioners, the haircare brand offers vegan and cruelty-free products for shine, smoothening and volume.
The actress said she took around a year-and-a-half to carefully create the products. “I saw a gap in the market for affordable, clean and sustainable haircare, especially at an affordable price point,” she wrote on social media.
In an attempt to limit the amount of new plastic that ends up in landfills and oceans, The Anomaly Haircare’s packaging team stripped away all unnecessary packaging and invested more in the formulas.
The products are currently available at Target and its own website in the US.
Some ‘Unfinished’ Business
Two years after carefully working on her memoir, PeeCee finally released ‘Unfinished’ to the world in October last year.
The memoir made it to the bestsellers’ list in the US within 12 hours after its launch. In India, it was sold-out. Within a few months, the memoir featured in The New York Times’s best-seller list in February 2021.
The book traces Chopra Jonas’s journey as an actress in Bollywood to a global name in Hollywood. It also has a collection of essays and stories.
They have been friends for a while, and it was revealed to be a Bollywood romantic comedy featuring an all-Indian cast. The movie is said to be revolving around a wedding. They have also leaked further details regarding the characters in an interview earlier. Priyanka will play a Punjabi woman from India, while Kaling will play an Indian American Bengali woman based on the East Coast.
Mindy Kaling’s love for Indian cuisine is evident as she frequently uploads it on her social media handles. Born and brought up in the US, she has always been fond of Bengali &
food. The Office star recently loved Gujarati food when her friend surprised her with a feast.
