‘Shamshera’, which is one of the most expensive Hindi films ever made, was officially launched in May 2018 by YRF through a motion poster. A massive fort was also built at Film City located in Mumbai’s Goregaon. It took two months of preparations and over 300 people to build the film’s set. The Delhi HC has told YRF production house to pay a sum of ₹1 crore to the court. Justice Jyoti Singh has passed this order. The order said:

• ‘Shamshera’ was released the last month and to settle the disputes amongst the filmmakers, it is necessary to charge a penalty of ₹1 crore for breaching the copyright laws laid by the government.

• If the amount is not paid until August 22, the release of ‘Shamshera’ will be stalled on OTT platforms.

The plaintiff is still urging the court to stop the release of ‘Shamshera’. The defendant said that they would face an irreparable loss and breach the contractual obligations qua third parties.
