Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has carved a name for herself in the entertainment and fitness industries. Her dedication to yoga and daily workouts is remarkable, and one such incident surfaced recently when the actress posted a video of herself doing yoga with a broken leg on social media.

The video shows the actress seated in a wheelchair, and her injured leg is propped up using a recovery belt. In the video, the actress remarked that her leg had broken, not her dedication. She emphasised the importance of yoga and started with some stretches. Then she proceeded to do simple exercises that her condition allowed.

In the caption, Shetty wrote that after resting for ten days, she realised there was no good reason to avoid stretching. She added that though her injury requires her to rest for a few weeks, no exercise and inactivity might make her rusty. That was why she decided to do some basic yoga poses. She started with Parvatasana and then moved to Utthita Parsvakonasana. In the end, Shetty concluded her yoga with Bharadvajasana.

International Yoga Day 2022: Five Yoga poses to relieve stress and rejuvenate mind

Yoga poses to relieve stress

Annually International Yoga Day 2022 is celebrated on June 21 to educate people about Yoga’s importance and the pivotal role it plays in leading towards a healthier lifestyle by rejuvenating our mind and body. As stress impacts negatively on the body both physically and mentally, hence yoga helps to cope with it in a healthy way. Yoga for stress is one of the tools to cope with it. When inner peace is nowhere to be found, it’s time to tune into the body. So, set aside just a few minutes each day to practice any of these poses, as the key to maintaining that zen and unlocking yoga’s benefits by making a habit out of that practice.

Balasana

Excellent for relieving stress and anxiety, this pose involves curling up into a ball with your knees tucked under you and your chest near the mat. Keep your arms out in front of you and rest your forehead on the mat. Stay in that position for at least 10 deep breaths.

Anulom Vilom

It’s a specific type of pranayama, or controlled breathing, in yoga. It involves holding one nostril closed while inhaling, then holding the other nostril closed while exhaling. The process is then reversed and repeated. Doing this can bring better balance to your nervous system and less stress response and activity over time.

Vriksasana

Take one foot and place it above the thigh of the supporting leg. Vriksasana is an advanced mountain pose, intended to improve the yogi’s balance and concentration. It also helps in strengthening the balancing muscles of our legs.

Bhujangasana

It is a reclining back-bending asana in hatha yoga. Begin by lying flat in your stomach and lift your upper body. Bhujangasana is said to help relieve stress and it strengthens your arms, shoulders, and upper back.

Shetty stated that people suffering from back or knee pain or those unable to sit on the floor could do these poses while sitting in a chair. The poses helped strengthen the spine and back muscles and improve flexibility. They improve the body’s digestive system too. Shilpa cautioned her fans not to do Bharadvajasana during pregnancy.

Shilpa ended her post by urging her fans not to let anything hamper their daily routine. She added that one could overcome any difficulty simply by believing that they can and if they have the will to change things.

Shilpa broke her leg while shooting for the upcoming movie, Indian Police Force, directed by Rohit Shetty. The actress, posting an image of herself in a wheelchair, joked that the makers called for roll, camera, and action and asked her to break a leg. She took the comment quite literally.

Before she announced her injury, Shetty posted a behind-the-scenes peek into the movie’s shoot. The director is seen hanging from a harness and filming a fight sequence starring Shilpa. Besides the upcoming movie, Shilpa recently starred in Nikamma with fellow actors Shirley Setia and Abhimanyu Dassani
