NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress will abstain from voting in the vice-presidential election, party leader Abhishek Banerjee announced on Thursday.
NDA had announced West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar as its candidate for Vice President of India.
“No question of supporting NDA vice president candidate. We object the way opposition nominee was decided without keeping TMC in loop,” Abhishek Banerjee said.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay, party leader in Lok Sabha, had indicated that TMC MPs wouldn’t be attending the opposition parties’ meeting called by Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, over the choice of the VP candidate.
