MUMBAI:A SpiceJet aircraft operating a flight from Patna to Delhi was forced to return to Patna on Sunday following a bird hit that damaged an engine.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft (VT-SYZ) operating flight SG-723 with 185 passengers and 6 crew on board had departed for Delhi around noon and was scheduled to land at the destination about 90 minutes later. The aircraft had climbed to over 2300 feet when the left-hand engine suffered a bird hit and shut down, said a source. The aircraft returned and landed at Patna airport. A statement from SpiceJet is awaited.
