NEW DELHI: West Bengal police on Saturday nabbed three Jharkhand Congress MLAs in Howrah district after a huge amount of cash was found in their car.
Three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand – Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap and Naman Vixel Kongari were travelling from Jamtara in Jharkhand to East Midnapore in Bengal by road route when the police intercepted their car.
“We’ve nabbed 3 MLAs of Congress from Jharkhand with huge amounts of cash. We would only be able to count it once counting machines come,” SP Swati Bhangalia said.
Bengal police said that they had specific information about cash being carried. The MLAs are being questioned for the source of money while cash counting machines have been sought from nearest bank branch to count the cash recovered.
