Karthikeya 2: Telugu thriller ‘Karthikeya 2’ makes biggies ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ & ‘Raksha Bandhan’ sweat at box-office

The Hindu dubbed version of South film ‘Karthikeya 2‘ seems to be giving a tough competition to Aamir Khan‘s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha‘ and Akshay Kumar‘s ‘Raksha Bandhan‘ as the film witnessed high occupancy on August 15, Independence Day.

As per the box-office numbers of the film, it’s fair to say that the Telugu drama has made a successful connection with the audience. The film, circles around Dr. Karthikeya Kumaraswamy who finds himself caught in a mysterious puzzle in the ancient epic city of Dwaraka, kicked off with a slow start. However, the film picked up speed on Monday as it collected around Rs 1.55 crore as per numbers shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter.

Over all, the film collected around Rs 6.50 on Monday, taking the 3-day total of the film at the Indian box-office to Rs 17.55 crore (approximately) for Hindi and Telugu dubbed versions collectively.

It seems like the word of mouth has done the trick for the small-budget film, which is a sequel to Chandoo Mondeti’s 2015 film ‘Karthikeya’.

Meanwhile, the big starrer films, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’, have turned out to be a non-performer as the Aamir Khan’s film could only mint around Rs 45.83 crore, while Akshay Kumar-starrer managed to earn Rs 34.47 crore in last five days at the box-office.

Despite the long weekend, the Bollywood films could not pick up speed and boost their theatre earnings.
