NEW DELHI: The long wait for CBSE’s Board exam candidates is likely to be over soon. According to education ministry sources, CBSE is likely to announce the Class X results around July 4 and the Class XII results around July 10. While majority of Boards have announced their Class XII results, students waiting for admission in India and abroad have been affected due to CBSE’s delay. CBSE too has not communicated so far on the result dates or on the verification/re-evaluation of results.
CBSE decided to break the board exams into two parts, subjecting the students and schools to seven months of continuous exam schedule which included two boards, two pre-boards and practicals. In Term-I, conducted in November-December 2021, the students were made to answer objective questions. CBSE took over three months to announce the results with teachers and candidates raising doubts over the fairness of the evaluation process.
In fact, it came to light that in a number of schools, which were also centres for their own students, entire batches scored similar marks. In March, when TOI asked the Board about the reason behind this, CBSE in a statement said, “For the first time in the history, CBSE has conducted Term-I exam based on the objective type questions. Schools have worked very hard with the students. Further the students of Class XII are preparing for the competitive examinations from past 2-3 years. Accordingly, there is a possibility of better performance. The Term-II examination would be conducted shortly. As this would be subjective type exam hence candidate’s performance may differ from Term-I exam as in subjective assessment, marks are awarded on different steps of the answer.”
The Term-II exams were conducted in April-May 2022 where candidates were asked to solve subjective questions.
