NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court (HC) on Friday issued summons to Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera and Netta D’Souza on a civil defamation suit filed by Union minister Smriti Irani. Irani’s suit sought damages of over Rs 2 crore for “baseless” allegations against her and her daughter.
The court asked the Congress leaders to remove tweets, retweets, posts, videos and photos posted on the issue, from social media platforms.
The court said if the defendants fail to comply with the orders within 24 hours, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube shall take down the same.
Congress leaders had alleged that her Irani’s daughter Zoish ran an “illegal” bar in Goa and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sack her the Union minister from his Cabinet.
The court asked the Congress leaders to remove tweets, retweets, posts, videos and photos posted on the issue, from social media platforms.
