India added 16,561 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 4,42,23,557, while active cases dropped to 1,23,535, according to Union Health Ministry data. The death toll rose to 5,26,928 with 49 fatalities, including 10 deaths resolved by Kerala.
0.28 percent of total infections are active, whereas the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.53 percent, the government stated. Active COVID-19 caseload decreased by 1,541 in 24 hours.
India’s COVID-19 tally passed 20 lakh on August 7, 30, 40, and 50 lakh on September 5 and 16. It passed 60k on September 28, 70k on October 11, 90k on November 20, and 1m on December 19.
The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year. It crossed the four-crore mark on January 25 this year.
