iPhone 14 feature: iPhone 14 to have network even in remote areas? Apple planning satellite connectivity feature

According to latest reports, the Cupertino-based tech giant may be announcing its rumoured satellite connectivity for iPhone 14. The name of the event itself has spurned numerous possibilities and one of them happens to be the next-level connectivity.
This development came to light after Tim Farrar, a satellite communications consultant from a California-based company took to his Twitter account to share details. On August 25, Elon Musk’s SpaceX and T-Mobile came together in an attempt to connect mobile devices through a network of satellites to provide connectivity in remote areas.
According to Farrar, the announcement by T-Mobile and SpaceX was likely an effort to forestall Apple’s announcement of satellite connectivity feature for the iPhone 14. Apple is reportedly introducing the feature in partnership with Globalstar, a prominent US-based satellite company. Earlier this year, Globalstar had announced that it acquired 17 satellites to offer continuous satellite services to a potential customer. This potential customer is rumoured to be Apple.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that satellite connectivity has surfaced in conversations surrounding Apple’s innovation for the iPhone 14 series. In April, reports suggested that iPhone 14 will feature satellite connectivity. Noted tech journalist Mark Gurman had said that iPhone 14 users will be able to connect to satellite networks during emergency situations in remote areas. Earlier the feature was expected to be launched on iPhone 14.
Several reports had also suggested that the new iPhone 14 will offer an “Emergency message via Contacts” option that will allow users to share a short message when there is no cellular service available.
Apple, as usual, has not divulged any details on the developments. The tech giant will likely reveal more on this and other at the September 7 event.
