The Supreme Court on Monday said it is within the policy domain of the Centre to take a call on declaring the ‘Ram Sethu‘ a national monument and that the courts have a limited role in this.
A 15-year-old petition by Subramanian Swamy seeks conferment of national monument status to the ‘Rama Sethu’, a bridge to Sri Lanka religiously believed to be built by Lord Ram. Swamy said the Centre is not taking a decision on the ground that the matter is pending adjudication before the SC.
