Zwigato is Kapil’s third film and his first since 2017. The movie is set in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, covering the life and struggle of a common man in the post-COVID-19 era. Talking excitedly about the movie, Nandita said that the movie was about the new urban India and not just the world of gig economy.
She added that the film has a universal appeal and will resonate with audiences worldwide.
The movie is produced and presented by Applause Entertainment, headed by CEO Sameer Nair. Commenting on their association with ‘Zigwato‘, Sameer said that the movie depicted the life of unseen people, who are the core components of nation-building and its economy. He added that the film transcends geographical boundaries regarding appeal and connection.
Kapil has played a run-down husband, struggling to bear the fact that his wife will earn more than him. With his visibly distraught appearance, the actor has played the role of the man struggling to make ends meet but doesn’t want his wife to take up a new job. Sadly, this is the story of most urban families in modern India, especially after the multiple lockdown periods.
Kapil’s last two movies were comedies, establishing him as the leading comic of his generation. Currently, Kapil and his comedy show team are in Australia for a tour, following successful runs in the US and Canada.
