liger day 2 box office collection: ‘Liger’ slumps at box-office with Rs 5.75 cr on Day 2; unbeaten ‘Karthikeya 2’ grosses Rs 19 cr

One of the most anticipated films in recent times, ‘Liger’ is currently running in theatres. The film released on August 25 managed to collect Rs 15.30 crore in India. However, the film seems to fare poorly at the ticket window.

Despite a decent opening, ‘Liger’ witnessed a massive drop in footfalls on its second day. The Hindi version of the film only collected Rs 5.75 crore on its second day. The Hindi version was released on Thursday night and collected close to Rs 1.25 crore.

‘Liger’ was released amid significant hype, however, early reviews seemed to have panned the Vijay Deverakonda – Ananya Panday starrer. Several viewers had taken to their social media handles to lambast the makers of the film for poor performances and screenplay. Meanwhile, trade analysts are hopeful that the film may pick pace over the weekend.

Meanwhile, another Telugu film ‘Karthikeya 2’ continues its dream run at the box-office. The film starring Nikhil Siddhartha reportedly has earned three times more than its first week of release. The film which was released in less than 100 screens was later released in over 1,000 screens owing to positive feedback from the audience.

The film released on August 13 has been witnessing phenomenal growth in its box-office collection. Made on a budget of around Rs 30 crores the film grossed over Rs 25 crore worldwide in its opening weekend.

‘Karthikeya 2’ was released around the same time as Bollywood biggies ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’. According to noted film business analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has done a total business of Rs 19.29 crore in India.
